Change made for graduation rehearsal

Graduation rehearsal has been changed to Friday, May 23, at 9:00 a.m.  We felt this would be more convenient for those of you who work after school, and it will certainly be cooler.  Remember:  Rehearsal is mandatory!!!

BACCALAUREATE

Baccalaureate will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 19, at Calvary Baptist Church.  All seniors and their families are invited.  Please wear your cap and gown.  Dress according to the guidelines below.  The ceremony will be followed by a reception.  The church has done lots of work preparing for this.  Please make every effort to attend.

SENIOR EXIT SURVEY

I still haven’t received all of your senior exit surveys.  I use the information from the survey to recognize scholarship officers at Awards Day and to know where to send a final transcript if you’re going to college in the summer or fall.  I need these right away.  Please do not list scholarships you were not actually offered.  Many of the colleges will be represented at Awards Day.  It will be very embarrassing if you are claiming a scholarship that they are not aware of.  See me if you need to add to (or take away from) your list.

What to Wear for Graduation

In case you’re planning ahead, here’s what you will be wearing for graduation.  Girls’ dresses may be any color.  Your dress shouldn’t be longer than the gown or have a collar that shows.  In other words, your dress shouldn’t show when you are standing.  Girls will wear the collar provided with your gown unless you will have an Advanced Diploma cowl.  Wear dark dress shoes with a moderate or low heel.  No pants, no shorts, and no casual sandals.  Boys will wear white dress shirts, dark ties, dress pants, (khakis will be fine), and dark shoes.  No jeans, no sneakers, and no sandals.

Be sure that you have taken care of your debts.

Graduation is three weeks away and many of you still need to take care of some business.  Caps and gowns will not be issued and you will not participate in graduation if you have any outstanding debts.  You should have received a note in homeroom notifying you of the debts that have been turned in to me.  As you take care of these debts, get a receipt or note from the teacher and bring it to my office so that I’ll know you are clear.  I will be checking again immediately before graduation to see if there are any last minute debts.
